How to Download Adobe

The Adobe® software platform consists of several different application suites that can be downloaded individually or collectively. Applications are available for PDF document accessibility and flash video media streaming and playback. Other Adobe programs can be used for more technical purposes, such as creating dynamic web designs, digital image editing, or word processing document structure. Adobe software can be downloaded from the company's official website and onto your computer's hard drive for personal access. Some programs are free while others are fee-based. • Go to the official Adobe website, adobe.com (see Resources, below). The Adobe website will open automatically in a pop-up browser window.

• Before you can download some of the applications, you must create an Adobe account online. (This stop is not necessary for free software.) To do this, click on the "Your Account" link in the upper left corner of the screen when the Adobe page loads in the new browser window. Select "Create an Adobe Account" when the next page loads and fill out the necessary account details by entering your information in the blank data forms provided.

• Next access the "Downloads" section of the site. When the page has loaded successfully, click on the "Downloads" tab, which will be listed as sixth tab from the left at the top of the screen.

• The Downloads page will display a list of links for every Adobe download that is offered. (Acrobat Reader is the popular free program that allows you to open PDF files.) To choose the particular Adobe application or program you want to download, double-click on the link for the program of your choice.

• Opt to store the software on your hard drive by clicking on the "Save" option that will be displayed in your file download window. Follow the recommended Adobe installation instructions and prompts to effectively store and run the software directly from your computer.
