How to Burn a CD or DVD on a Computer


CD-Rs and DVD-Rs are recordable media with a storage capacity of 700 megabytes and 4.7 gigabytes respectively. But you can write data on these discs only once. Disks marked with "RW" allow you to rewrite the content up to 1,000 times. Burning a CD or DVD is a fast way to create a backup copy of important files as well as to transfer a large chunk of information from one computer to another. • Open your user account in Windows Vista and click "Start" in the lower left corner

  • Click "Computer" in order to open Windows Explorer.
Step 3

  • Browse to the folder with files you want to burn on CD or DVD.
Step 4

  • Click on each file while holding "Ctrl" on your keyboard to make a selection. Also, you can press "Ctrl-A" on the keyboard to select all files in the folder.
Step 5

  • Insert a blank CD or DVD into the CD/DVD burner.
Step 6

  • Click the button "Burn" in Windows Explorer. Type a desired disc name in the field "Disk title" and click "Next."
Step 7

  • Click the button "Burn to disk" and then "Next" to begin disk burning.
