Since I am an SEO guru in my spare time, I decided to give you guys a top ten list on driving traffic to a site. Keep in mind that increasing your website traffic doesn’t depend on just one thing. It takes time and effort and in a lot of different areas.
* Create e-mail newsletters/bulk mail lists. Although this is very time consuming, it doesn’t take as much time as you might think to get an email list of 100 to 200 people. Remember also to save e-mail inquiries, comments, and questions in your contacts. These are people who were interested enough in your site to say something, and are excellent candidates for your future “newsletter.”
* Sign up for social bookmarking sites like Furl, Spurl, Digg, & Del.icio.us. List pages of your sites in these social communities for public consumption.
* Add a “Refer this site” feature to your website. That way, users can refer your site to a friend. Friend referrals are much more likely to be visited than any other type of referral.- Step 2
* Create an article about your site for syndication. (This is usually on the expensive side, but it’s well worth the cost). Syndicated articles can receive ten, 20, even 30 thousand hits in a day.
* Get listed in DMOZ. DMOZ is an open web directory that includes sites in all different categories. Since it is the premier web directory around, it is very difficult to get listed. But if you can, it’ll really give your search engine rankings a boost.
* Create an article entry in WikiPedia. If you follow their editorial guidelines and write high quality content, they will sometimes allow you to reference a link to a site of your choice. - Step 3
* Use Google AdWords to promote and advertise your site’s products and services. (Again, this can be expensive, but does deliver tangible results).
* Take advantage of free advertising sites like Craiglist. Craigslist is probably the best web advertising site around, as it pack a huge punch with the search engines.
* Create multiple blogs dealing with multiple topics. Make sure you have quality, original content on them. Set up iner-site links between them.
* List your blogs in blog cataloging sites like MyBlogLog & Technorati. These two companies draw thousands of visitors a day.
How to Drive Traffic to Your Website
How to Instantly Drive Crazy Amounts of Traffic to Your Website
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
Step 1
Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Your site must be optimized in order for you to see positive rankings in the search engines. This is a very important process when starting or growing your Internet business and it's free! Failing to optimize your site is a deadly mistake. If you don't do anything else, please do this one step!
Step 2
Paid Advertising: Spend a little money on Pay-Per-Click (PPC) campaigns to pump up the volume on your website visitors. PPC advertising, paid listings or placed banner ads on related websites are an excellent way to generate targeted traffic. If you are currently running some paid advertising, look for new websites to place your banner ads or do more market testing with Google Adwords.
Step 3
Link Exchanges: When I first got started promoting affiliate products online back in 2001, link exchanges was the only traffic generating method I used. It worked so well that I failed to do anything else. I soon realized that exchanging links with high traffic websites not only worked, but worked exceptionally well when done with other forms of online marketing! Exchanging links will help you create value for your website and search engines love value! :)
Step 4
Public Relations (PR): A good way to drive traffic to your website in a short amount of time is to send out press releases about your business. Media outlets would love to run your story as long as it is newsworthy and related to current events. The link backs that you would get when running your press releases would create great value for your website resulting in high search engine rankings.
Step 5
Offline Marketing: I don't care if you are a newbie or an advanced Internet marketer making millions of dollars online, if you are not promoting your product or service offline then you are potentially leaving huge amounts of money on the table. Some offline marketing ideas include; business cards, brochures, tv ads, radio ads, speaking engagements, car signs, yard signs, press releases, postcards, flyers, marketing events and trade shows. You may also want to join your local Chamber of Commerce and start networking with local business owners and entrepreneurs.

How to change the name of a label on blog
Let's say you have a number of posts with the label Label-1 but you've decided that you'd rather call it Label-2 instead. You can't edit the name of a label directly, but there's a simple workaround to accomplish your goal:
1. Go to the Posting | Edit Posts tab for your blog.
2. Click Label-1 in the label list.
3. Click Select All to select every post with this label.
4. From the Label Actions... menu, choose Apply label > New Label...
5. Enter Label-2 as your new label. (If you already have some posts with this label, you can simply add that label, without creating a new one.)
6. Now all the selected posts should have both labels. From the Label Actions... menu again, select Remove label > Label-1, and you've completed the switch.
Note: If you have a large number of posts with this label, they may not all appear on one page. You can show more posts at once using the Posts Per Page menu. If you still can't show them all at once, then simply repeat the steps above until you've changed the labels on all the posts you wanted to affect.
How To Build Traffic To Your Blog
With the growing interest in blogging as a means of online promotion and branding, a lot of marketers are starting blogs to promote their opinions, products, books and services.
But a blog is like a website. "Write and they will come" isn't exactly a magic formula to bring in traffic by the boatload.
If you need to promote your website in order to build traffic to it, you need to promote your blog as well.
Here are some ways you can become a well-read and influential blogger.
1. Write Posts That People Will Want To Read
This should be common sense, but many marketers tend to forget that their readers are real people and that you need to use the principles of online copywriting to make your headlines and copy interesting to your readers.
If you write posts that people enjoy reading, they will reward you by returning to your blog regularly.
Make your posts conversational, pithy and topical. Keep them short and stick to one topic per post.
Write often and regularly so that both readers and search engines visit your blog more often.
2. Optimize Your Posts for Search Engines
I cover this topic in detail in my article on "Search Engine Optimization For Blogs"
But here are the most important rules to follow to get your posts listed for keywords of your choice.
- Make sure your blog URL contains the primary keyword you want to optimize for
- Use your primary keywords in the title of your post
- Use your secondary keywords in the body of your post
- Use your keywords in the anchor text of links in the body of your posts
3. Submit Your Blog and RSS Feed To Directories
If you publish a blog you should submit your blog and RSS feed to big directories like Yahoo and Dmoz, as well as the numerous blog directories and search engines.
Here is the best list I've found of places to submit your feed or blog, compiled by Luigi Canali De Rossi, who writes under the pseudonym Robin Good.

4. Ping The Blog Services
There are a number of services designed specifically for tracking and connecting blogs. By sending a small ping to each service you let them know you've updated your blog so they can come check you out.
Bookmark the Ping-O-Matic ping results page so you can visit it and quickly ping a number of services with a single click.
5. Build Links To Your Blog
I recommend the methods here as the best ways to get links pointing to your blog.
- Link to your blog from each page on your main website
- Trackback to other blogs in your posts
- Post legitimate comments on other blogs with related topics
- Offer to exchange links with other similarly themed blogs and websites
6. Edit Your Blog Posts Into Articles
One of the best methods for promoting your website is to write articles and submit them to article directories.
The suggestion for extending this to edit your blog posts into articles and submit them to directories came from the coach at "Explode Blog Traffic" who also has other noteworthy suggestions at his blog.
You'll find an extensive list of article directories here
7. Create Buzz About Your Blog
Creating a buzz about your blog posts and topic in the local and online media will give your marketing a viral component.
- Create a controversy around your blog or it's topic.
- Distribute bumper stickers or other merchandise with your blog's URL and tagline.
- Write a press release about something newsworthy and tie it in with your blog topic.
8. Capture Subscribers By Email
It may seem strange for a blogger to send out updates by email, but email is still the #1 choice of most people who want to receive news and information.
Using a free service like Bloglet to manage your subscriptions is easy and it allows your subscribers to manage all their subscriptions from one interface.
However, if you want more control over your list and don't mind mailing out the updates yourself, you can use an autoresponder system to capture and follow-up with subscribers.
RSS Responder is a new script that allows you to keep in touch and follow-up with your subscribers without the hassle of email.

How to Insert Free Images into Your Wordpress Blog
- Sign up for an free account with a site that offers free photos. Perform an internet search to find such a sight, or sign up for stock.xchng, a popular free photo site.
- Save a photo you like to your computer. To do this, first hover your mouse pointer over the photo. Then, press the right-hand button (not the usual left) to display a special menu. From the special menu, click on "Save image as..." This will open up a dialog box prompting you to choose a file location.
- Choose your file location. Make it a place you will remember by opening the "My Documents" folder. From within "My Documents," open "My Pictures." I suggest creating a new folder labeled "Free Images." This will prevent you from ever inadvertently using a copyrighted image on your blog. Click "Save."
- Log on to your Wordpress blog. Open the post to be edited. From within the editing pane, insert your cursor into the place you want your picture to appear. Remember, your cursor is not your mouse pointer.
- Now, find the area just above the Bold and Italics buttons where it says "Upload/Insert." Click on the small image to the right of this phrase that looks like a black box within a boxed border.
- Insert the Image using the "Add an Image" dialog box. Click on "Select an Image." Once you have found your image and selected it, choose a title and caption and write a description. If you use SEO, these phrases will be searched. Click the button labeled "Insert Into Post."
- Edit the image. Once you insert the post, you will probably find that the text does not appear where you want in relation to the picture. You can easily fix this by clicking one time on the photo, then clicking the "Edit Image" button that appears.
- Fix the alignment. Choose the alignment option that places the sample text where you want. Explore the other options in the Edit Picture dialog box to see what else you can do.
