How to Recover a Torrent

Torrent technology allows you to download files from other users considerably faster than many standard file-sharing tools. This is because torrents allow you to get the same file from many different people all at the same time. If the torrent is stopped or canceled for some reason, or if you accidentally delete it, it's possible to recover it using a variety of methods.

  • Locate your torrent file if you just deleted it from the torrent program or exited out of the program. It could still be there. In that case, double-click on it, and your torrent program should load it for you.
  • Step 2
  • Open the recycling bin if you deleted your torrent from your computer. If you haven't cleared out your bin yet, it should still be there. Right-click on it and select "Recover." This will restore it back to the folder you deleted it from.
  • Step 3
  • Download and install a recover program like Pandora if you still can't recover the file (see Resources).
  • Step 4
  • Open Pandora and click "Next" on the recovery wizard screen. Click "no" when it asks whether you found your file in the recycling bin. Click "Next." Select a drive to recover, then hit "Next" again. Click on "search" and hit "Next" once more and the program will then load.
  • Step 5
  • Click on the "Search" tab and type in the name of your torrent in the box. Click "Search." Right-click on the torrent you want to recover and select "Recover." A new window will come up. Select the drive you'd like to recover to, and then hit "Recover now."
